In this arrangement, the ownership of the goods remains with the original owner until they are successfully sold. At Scout It Out we offer transparent pricing – only outstanding choices and unwavering assistance from start to finish.

  • Who is Your Audience?

Scout It Out appeals to a wide audience of discerning buyers and sellers including collectors, designers, decorators, artists, creatives and astute consumers. Downsizing, upsizing or in between residences we have furniture and items to create a home that you will treasure.

  •  How does the selling process work?

Commencing a new consignment involves a streamlined approval procedure. Upon receipt of the requisite photos and descriptions through our dedicated Description Form, we will assess whether your pieces meet our upscale criteria. Upon approval, your item will be promptly listed within 48 hours, with a commitment to expedite the selling process on your behalf. 

  • Will You Sell Anything?

Given that our platform upholds a standard of quality beyond the ordinary, any furniture or decorative items listed must meet specific conditions. These items are expected to be in excellent to like-new condition, aligning with the preferences of our discerning clientele. We have created a Comprehensive Description Form for your convenience.

  • What items do you list?

For a comprehensive list, please visit the dedicated page on our website. Our range encompasses a diverse selection of genres and items, including decorative finishes, soft furnishings and art. Driven by a commitment to sustainability, our objective is to curate beauty while minimising waste, offering others the chance to experience it at a more affordable price point. 

In addition to luxury second hand items, we also stock new, bespoke and unusual pieces. It's important to note that we do not accept replicas.

  • What should I do if I'm unable to capture photos or create a detailed description myself?

If you encounter difficulty in photographing the item or delivering a detailed description on your own, there's no need for concern when it comes to selling on Scout It Out. Our commitment is to support you throughout the process. We're more than willing to arrange both photography and complete the requisite information for your listing.   • Is the price negotiable?

Our pricing considers several factors, including the item's original purchase price, condition, age, quality, designer, and market demand. We strive for a fair approach that serves both sellers and buyers optimally. In line with this principle, prices are typically set and not subject to negotiation, unless the seller agrees otherwise.

  • Is GST applicable when purchasing?

Despite the items being pre-owned, it's important to note that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) is still applicable and is added at checkout.

  • Am I allowed to inspect the item I intend to purchase?

The decision to allow inspection rests with the seller. At Scout It Out, we highly recommend that buyers take the opportunity to inspect the item prior to purchase, if feasible. This practice helps prevent any potential disappointment in the rare instance of a change of heart.

  • What is your return policy?

Every second-hand item possesses its own distinct qualities and is under the ownership of the vendor. Consequently, we regrettably cannot accommodate returns for any of the items you acquire through our site, including those that are new. We kindly urge you to exercise thoughtful consideration when making your choices. Please take into account that all sales, whether pertaining to new or preloved furniture and items, are final. Credit or exchange are not available. 

  • Whom should I make payment to when making a purchase?

You will make the payment directly to Scout It Out, and we will subsequently handle the payment to the seller on your behalf.

  •  When will I receive payment if I'm selling?

You can expect to receive payment within 5 business days after your item has been purchased and payment has been received from the buyer..

  • Is it possible to store items until they are sold or ready for installation?

Scout It Out is pleased to offer the option of collecting and storing your items until they find a buyer. The cost for this service is provided as a separate quote, tailored to each specific case.

Furthermore, if you happen upon an item you adore but are not yet ready to take possession of due to factors like renovations, we are delighted to offer a storage estimate for your careful consideration.

  • What choices do I have for delivery?

You can choose to personally collect the item, make your own delivery arrangements, or entrust us to manage the delivery on your behalf. Delivery costs are determined separately, taking into account factors such as location, item size, and your preferred delivery timeframe. We engage in comprehensive discussions to ensure that your decision aligns perfectly with your preferences and satisfaction.  If we are coordinating the delivery, our goal is to accomplish this within 7 days from the date of payment.

Please be aware that Scout It Out does not assume liability for items that sustain damage during delivery. Additionally, it's important to acknowledge that, given the nature of second-hand items, they may not be protected by original packaging or boxes. Our delivery team places paramount importance on safeguarding all items to the best of their ability, even though packaging may not be present.

  • What is the rate of your commission?

As a result of operating without extensive overheads like a physical flagship store, we are able to establish our commission rate well below that of our competitors, standing at 25% of the purchase price + GST. This commission encompasses all aspects of communication, social media management, and organisation performed on your behalf.

  • What if I miss out on an item?

Scout it out lists new items constantly. If you don't secure an item featured on our platform, we are pleased to explore alternative options for you through our curated network of suppliers.
